Eden
Eden: Gardens of the sky
Eden was originally supposed to be a one-man episode created by AtroNx. This project is a mapping exercise in small to medium size boom-format maps utilising Ancient Aliens’s fantastic resources. Because I was interested in the specific theme that was being explored (The “In the clouds” theme from Ancient Aliens’s map24 by Lupinx-Kassman), I asked if I could contribute!
At the time the project had no official name. The name I was going to give my map eventually became the name of the project itself – Eden. I originally named my map as such because the map feels like ‘Gardens in the Sky’!
The map was mostly designed live on my Twitch stream, with one of the sessions lasting several hours. The map was build to have 4 quadrants, 3 of which you could access in any order of your choosing. Beating each section made that part of the map’s geometry manipulate into a much more open-field location. Once all three areas have been beaten a switch reveals itself, providing the player with a massive set-piece fight which has 3 turret Cyberdemons who can see most of the arena at any given time. Surviving for long enough grants the player access to the exit teleporter which causes a sequence of teleports to happen which has the player telefragging the 3 Cyberdemons in a row before finally dropping the player at the real exit teleporter.
After crafting the map I produced a TITLEPIC image for Eden, displayed below, alongside all those fancy-lookin’ screenshots! If you’re looking to play Eden, you’re currently out of luck – no public release has been made as of yet. When I’m aware of one I’ll come back to update this page though!
